Jinja is a major industrial in Uganda situated to the east of Kampala, on the shores of Lake Victoria. The city is home to a small Asian population with many establishing their businesses here. Industries in Jinja include; food processing, agriculture, metal works and a paper mill.
Jinja is linked to other parts of Uganda by road and rail. The town is also accessible from neighboring Kenya by road. Transport to and from here is mainly by matatu or buses.
The town has become a key stopover for visitors to Lake Victoria and the White Nile. The Nile here has developed into a popular sport for water sports such as rafting and bungee jumping. There are also a number of bars, restaurants, hotels and lodges.
