See Gorillas Up-close in Bwindi Forest in Uganda

Bwindi Forest Gorilla

If you’ve not yet gone gorilla trekking or started planning a safari to Uganda it’s high time to begin now. I my self have been reading articles and stories of those whom I have been calling blessed to have a chance to see the gorillas in a close range eye to eye. Uganda provided me with that opportunity of meeting the endangered mountain gorillas up close on a fully inclusive gorilla trekking trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.Though this was two years ago, the memories of watching the gentle giants in Bwindi Forest are still fresh in my memory.

Uganda is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa with fantastic natural surroundings! The country is home to half of the worlds remaining mountain gorillas in the world. Uganda is gifted to have two national parks where travelers can go gorilla tracking. The large population of about 420 mountain gorillas live in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and a smaller population lives in the Mgahinga gorilla forest national park which is an extension of the vast Virunga conservation area which include the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. In total over 480 individuals live in Uganda.

My wife and I were recently inspired to look into taking a trip to Uganda after watching an online video of a tourist who had a close encounter with mountain gorillas in one of the national parks in Uganda that hosts these endangered mountain gorilla. We looked up all kinds of information on the possible gorilla treks offered in Bwindi Impenetrable and we finally settled with a great offer from Go Gorilla Trekking (www.gogorillatrekking), renowned specialists in organising gorilla treks in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. We preffered accommodation within the forest or within a distance of over 10-12km away from them. Though Bwindi is located many miles away from Entebbe the entry point for air travelers to Uganda, our journey filled with a lot of memories, sightings and experiences that are really not easy to explain.

On the exact day, we left early for a briefing from the game rangers who led us on the expedition into the forest. With our walking sticks, we trekked through the jungle and we were fortunate that in just one hour we found a gorilla family spending their time within the forest. Upon meeting the gorillas, we has one hour with the gentle giants! On a gorilla trek, do not attempt to touch the gorillas. it will charge on you and i dont think you are ready to tassle out these creatures! It is also advisable to avoid making sudden movements or making loud noises when watching the mountain gorillas.

All in all we loved the idea of being able to see the gorillas up close playing in fruitful trees and tree blanches, we started planning as well as saving, we started researching about the best companies in Uganda can organize our trip in a reasonable manner, this time round we landed on a company with professional and caring staff members, they answered all our questions we asked on about gorillas. Since booking our trip, we’ve gathered a lot of information on how we should prepare for our trip and what we should bring. We’ve also read other people’s experiences with this tour so that we know what to expect. We can’t wait to get there and start our adventure. We’re really hoping to be able to see a family of mountain gorillas like that other tourist did. I know it’s going to be an exciting moment we should never forget.
