Explore the remote Kidepo Valley National Park a Ugandan safari park found in the North-east and it is within Karamoja town in Kaabong district. The Park is approximately 520 kilometers away from the capital city of Uganda (Kampala) however it can be accessed from various routes. It is nick named as ‘’The True African Wilderness’’. The park is nick named so due a variety of African wildlife species which exist there and some of the most likely animals to be seen there include; buffaloes, Leopards, Lions, Zebras, Giraffes, Oribi, Okapi, Cheetahs, Spotted hyenas, African elephants, Jackson’s hartebeest, Bush bucks and many more.

The park is the most photogenic place to visit on your safari in Uganda due to its beautiful and brilliant topography plus its landscape. Kidepo is made up of the Sand Rivers plus the Narus River plus the Morungole Mountain which all make Kidepo a photogenic place and ideal for the photographers. The park is still made up of hot springs and this impresses many tourists who visit the Park because you can boil eggs from the hot springs and they become ready to be eaten and the main hot spring is called Kanangoroko which is a tepid hot spring in the north of the Park. The park is also a haven to more than 500 bird species, 77 mammals and also made up of the Kidepo valley and Narus valley which all give a nice view to the tourists. Many activities take place in this Park such Game drives, game viewing, Mountain hiking, Bird watching, Nature walks, cultural encounters.

During the cultural encounters, you will come to interact with the Karamajong people and enjoy their daily life, dressing codes, dances, songs, poems however what impresses most whenever you are with these people, is their dressing styles for they don’t put on these usual clothes other people put on and instead they have their own clothes they put on and history clarifies that in the past, the Karamajong were not putting on clothes and they instead covered only their private parts and moved freely in the society though they have now changed with the changing and advanced society. These people have also learnt to go to school and they have now realized the importance of Kidepo valley national park compared to the old days whereby they even practiced poaching of wildlife in the Park but they have nowadays changed.

The Park’s roads are dirt but in a fine condition thus easing its accessibility and favoring the game driving activity which mostly takes place in the Narus valley. Your first day of accessing the Park, you will not be in the fine position to take or perform any activity in the Park due to the fatigue you will have attained and the long distance covered to access the Park will make you to reach late in the Park thus you will need to stay in your booked lodge or hotel within the Park for the overnight and supper and then do the activities on the following day.

The park is made up of good accommodation that you can stay in during your tour namely; Apoka safari lodge which is a luxury lodge situated within the boundaries of the Park offering impressive views of the rising hills, open savanna, extensive valleys including Kidepo valley and Narus valley and a variety of wildlife which always amaze the Kidepo visitors.

Apoka safari lodge is composed of a restaurant and a swimming pool which allows visitors to neutralize and refresh themselves in the semi-arid temperatures of Karamoja.

Other accommodations in the Park include Nga’moru wilderness camp, Kakine self-catering campsite and Apoka Rest Camp and these places are always in the best conditions and very clean plus having a good scent thus making visitors to be in a comfortable community as they enjoy the beauty of Uganda and Africa as whole.
